Fengshui and Elephants

In many cultures in the East the mighty elephant is viewed as a sacred animal- the elephant is one of the eight holy animals in Buddhism. When it comes to the Fengshui energy and symbology of the elephant, few people can object to its beauty, silent power, kindness and majesty. Protection, good luck and fertility are the main Fengshui energies brought by the symbol of elephant.

One of the most popular use of the elephants in Fengshui is as a fertility cure. User must choose an elephant with the trunk down for this specific purpose. An elephant statue with the trunk down stores and accumulates energy. It also helps to resolves various obstacles in fertility.

In Asian culture, the Elephant is seen as a symbol of strength, wisdom, good luck and careful reason. Users should choose elephant statue with trunks facing upward, as if trumpeting the good news. They can be placed in the entrance hall (but NOT directly facing the door).
The placement of a Frog on an Elephant or a Monkey on an Elephant statue, in the North is often thought to promote career stability.

Elephant also symbolize knowledge and academic success to children .Place a statue in your child's bedroom, on her desk or wherever she does homework.

Rhinoceros and Elephant talisman is the combination of double horned rhinoceros and elephant. Hanging such talisman at home can prevent from losing money and secure your home from robbery.

Fengshui and Birds

Bird symbols have an intrinsic universal energy that does not need translation. Often humans looked at birds for the feeling of inspiration, freedom, and a longing for being united with the divine. When choosing images of birds as a Fengshui cure, first and foremost one must be guided by your own instincts, or your own understanding of the energy of the bird you feel attracted to.
  1. Phoenix is the king of all birds. It is a strong Fengshui enhancer. Reader’s can place a picture of phoenix in the Fame corner to attract amazing opportunities into your life.
  2. Mandarin Ducks signifies love, romance, devotion, fidelity, affection and partner loyalty. In real life, Mandarin ducks are always seen as loving pairs. The symbols are often used to help singles find love partners in love and eventually marital bliss. Placed nearby their owners, the Mandarin ducks emit strong love chi that makes you more loveable and attractive to enhance your chances of finding partners.
  3. Peacock is a symbol of beauty, prosperity, royalty, love, compassion, soul and peace. Peacock’s with 100 eyes on its tail, can activate fame luck, promote public admiration and bring positive motives from other people. In Fengshui, display the image of peacock in the bedroom to symbolize fidelity in your relationship encouraging a lasting and loving partnership.
  4. Rooster decor placed in a southern corner of the living room helps the owner to attract good luck in every aspect of his life. It can be in the business or even at home. We Chinese believe that roosters will also prevent infidelity between spouses when placed towards the front door. For business purposes, the decor should be placed in an area facing rows of cubicles that are in a snakelike arrangement to prevent disagreements.
  5. Magpie is known as the "bird of happiness and joy”. It is a Fengshui symbol of Happiness. In ancient china, it was believed that the presence of magpie brought happiness and unlimited opportunities. To strengthen the positive Fengshui energy, one can place a Magpie decor at home or living space.

In our Chinese culture, there are four celestial animals. They are namely, the Green Dragon (protector for the East direction), the Red Phoenix (protector for the South direction), the White Tiger (protector for the West direction) and the Black Turtle (protector for the North direction).  The Fengshui turtle that I’m going to introduce in this article acts as a protection and energy enhancer.
1)     Place a black metal tortoise in the North; it will help you in strengthen your career luck.
2)     Place a small Fengshui tortoise at your back in the office, or in the back of your home. It shall acts as a protection and energy enhancer for you.

Fengshui and Pets

Pets are considered positive (yang) in Fengshui because they add activity to our homes. The love we put into caring for our pets also generate positive energy to our living environment. But when pets dominate your life, the result can be an upset in the natural balance that is critical to good Fengshui. Please take note of the following , if you own a pet at home.

1. Never Allow Your Pets ON FURNITURE – unless the furniture is meant for them.

2. Never Allow Your Pets ON THE BED, particularly for newlywed couples. This divides the couple and sometimes affects the relationship. It would be better if you can keep your pet out from the bedroom.

3. Never Allow your Animals BE THE FIRST THING YOUR GUEST SEE When ENTERING THE HOUSE. Use Pets to enhance a home, not dominate it.  If your hamster cage is the first thing your guest can see – or smell – when he/she entering your home, it’s a Fengshui problem.

4. YOUR Pets Should Never COME BEFORE ANYONE ELSE. Feng shui is all about balance.  If pets are completely superior, then balance doesn’t exist. For example , if you paste pictures of your pets all over the house, you may have difficulties in finding a life partner .

5. Avoid Having Pets If You Have HEALTH PROBLEMS. People, who suffer from all kinds of health complaints, should not keep pets to bothering them.  If the animals fur is all the house, this is not healthy.

6.  USE YOUR PETS TO STRENGHTEN YOUR FENG SHUI. Have a loving pet is good for you.  But, the pet must also be good for the entire family or even neighbourhood. Make sure the pet is friendly, clean, and do not bother your relationships or people around you.
If you don’t feed, bathe and nurture your pet properly, the Fengshui of your house will suffer. You may not realize it, the way you treat people, pets and plants is very important for your own self-image and well being.

Fire painting
I always associated Fire paintings with Success and Recognition. Fire paintings can be anything in red triangles.

The paintings can be hanged in the South direction of the house to maintain the energy associated with Fame, Reputation and Social Life.
Earth painting
Earth paintings are associated with Relationships.
The powers of the Earth element give us stability. The best symbol of earth energy is a mountain. It too can be images of something square yellow, brown or cream.
If the paintings placed in the South West, it helps to strengthen one Relationship. If it is hanged in the North East it raises one wisdom and Calmness.
